Message of condolence by Foreign Minister Taro Kono following the damage caused by the earthquake that occurred off the Pacific Coast of southern-west of Mexico

Following the damage resulting from the earthquake that occurred off the Pacific Coast of southern-west of Mexico on September 8 (at approximately 1:49 p.m., Japan time; approximately 11:49 p.m. on September 7, local time), Mr. Taro Kono, Minister for Foreign Affairs, delivered the following message of condolence to H.E. Dr. Luis Videgaray Caso, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States.
- I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Government and the people of Mexico regarding the damage inflicted by the earthquake off the Pacific Coast of southern-west of Mexico.
- The Government of Japan stands ready to provide any assistance that Mexico needs.
- My sympathy is with the bereaved and I sincerely pray for the speedy recovery of the affected people as well as the prompt restoration of the damaged areas.
