Japan-Philippines Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk
On July 28, commencing at 11:30 a.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a foreign ministers’ telephone talk with H.E. Mr. Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines. The overview of the telephone talk is as follows.
1. Bilateral relations
(1) Foreign Minister Kishida explained that in order to support the Philippines’ efforts to bring the Mindanao situation under control, today, Japan decided to provide aid of 2 million U.S. dollars as a measure for addressing refugees. Minister Kishida explained that this brings the support that Japan has provided the Philippines for public order, counterterrorism and other initiatives since the establishment of the Duterte Administration to approximately 12 million U.S. dollars.
(2) In response, Secretary Cayetano expressed gratitude for Japan’s support.
