The attack in Jerusalem
(Statement by Foreign Press Secretary Norio Maruyama)

1. In relation to the casualties arising from an attack which occurred in the Old City of Jerusalem, on July 14, Japan extends its sincere condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, and expresses its heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured.
2. Such act of violence cannot be justified for any reason, and Japan condemns the attack and stresses that the sanctity of the holy place should be respected.
