Message of Condolence following the Terrorist Attack in London from Foreign Minister Kishida

June 4, 2017

Dear Boris,

I would like to offer my prayers for the victims of the terror attack and extend my heartfelt condolences to their families. I would also like to sincerely hope the early recovery of those who were injured.

I am greatly shocked by and resentful of the attack which occurred at the historic London Bridge and the Borough Market where many people spend enjoyable time with families and friends on weekends. Such an act of terrorism is an attack on the whole of our civilization and values, which I resolutely condemn.

On behalf of the Japanese government and people, I wish to express our solidarity with the British Government and people. In this difficult time, Japan stands with the United Kingdom.

In close cooperation with the United Kingdom and the international community, Japan is determined to continuously combat heinous terrorism.

Sincerely yours,
Fumio
