The Seventh Japan-Australia Foreign and Defense Ministerial Consultation

1. The Seventh Japan-Australia Joint Foreign and Defense Ministerial Consultation (“2+2”) will be held in Tokyo on April 20th.
2. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ms. Tomomi Inada, Minister of Defense of Japan, the Hon. Julie Bishop MP, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, and Senator the Hon. Marise Payne, Minister for Defence of Australia will attend the consultation.
3. The ministers will exchange views on items such as Japan-Australia security and defense cooperation as well as the current security environment.
4. It is expected that the special strategic partnership between Japan and Australia will be further strengthened through this consultation.
