On March 23, Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, conveyed the following message to the Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom (UK), regarding the terrorist attack that occurred near the UK Parliament on March 22.
“I would like to offer my prayers for the victims of the terrorist attack that occurred near the UK Parliament, as well as my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and my sympathies to the wounded.
Terrorism cannot be justified for any reason, and Japan firmly condemns such an act of terrorism.
On behalf of the Japanese Government and people, I wish to express my solidarity with the UK Government and it’s people. In this difficult time, Japan stands with the UK.
In close cooperation with the international community including the UK, Japan will continue its efforts to combat such inhuman and despicable acts of terrorism.”
