Statement by the Chief Cabinet Secretary on the Visit to Viet Nam by Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan

Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan made an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and paid a visit to the Kingdom of Thailand.

Their Majesties traveled for 7 days from 28th February, and returned to Japan today, on 6th March safe and sound.

During their stay in the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, Their Majesties received warm welcome from His Excellency Mr. Tran Dai Quang, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and other distinguished persons.

Their Majesties heartily enjoyed the opportunities of exchanges with the people of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

In addition, Their Majesties paid a condolence visit to the Kingdom of Thailand to show respect for His Majesty the former King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away last October.

It is truly a matter for congratulation that a great contribution has been made to the advancement of friendly relations between Japan and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Kingdom of Thailand by Their Majesties’ visit.

It is expected that this visit will strengthen friendly relationship with the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Kingdom of Thailand even further in future.
