The Fourth Japan-Myanmar Human Rights Dialogue
1. The Fourth Japan-Myanmar Human Rights Dialogue was held on Tuesday, February 14 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.
2. The dialogue was led respectively by Mr. Koichi Mizushima, Deputy Director-General of Foreign Policy Bureau, Ambassador in charge of UN affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Kyaw Zeya, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
3. During the dialogue, both countries exchanged views on human rights situations in general such as release of prisoners of conscience, freedom of speech and expression, the situation in Rakhine State and peace process. The countries also had fruitful discussion on Japan’s capacity building assistance to Myanmar and the cooperation in the field of human rights in the international arena.
