Signing of the Japan-Hungary Working Holiday Agreement


1. On February 14, “Agreement between the Government of Japan and the Government of Hungary on a Working Holiday Scheme” (English (PDF) / Japanses (PDF)
) was signed by Mr. Nobuo Kishi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and H.E. Mr. Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
2. This Agreement establishes the legal framework to permit nationals of the sending country who possess valid visas to stay in the receiving county as a participant of the working holiday program or a temporary residence permit, to stay for a period of one year from the date of entry, and to allow them to engage in employment without work permit as an incidental activity of their holidays for the purpose of supplementing their travel funds.
3. The Government of Japan and the Government of Hungary will notify each other, in writing, that its internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of this Agreement have been completed, and the Agreement will enter into force on the 30th day after the date of receipt of the latter notification.
4. This Agreement is expected to promote youth exchanges and mutual understanding, and to further deepen the friendly relationship between the two countries.
