Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Indonesia in response to the Earthquake Disaster
1. On Tuesday, December 13, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods (tents) to the Republic of Indonesia, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the request from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia following serious damage from the earthquake disaster in Aceh of the Republic of Indonesia.
2. On December 7, a magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck Pidie Jaya, Aceh in the Republic of Indonesia. According to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, as of December 13, 102 people were dead and 85,133 people took refuge from the earthquake.
3. The Government of Japan decided to provide emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view for the victims as well as in light of the friendly relationship between Japan and the Republic of Indonesia.
