Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida Receives a Courtesy Call from the President of the Viet Nam – Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association

On November 30, commencing at 3:05 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, President of the Viet Nam – Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association, who is visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. In his opening remarks, Minister Kishida congratulated President Chinh on his election to the Politburo in January this year and his recent appointment as President of the Viet Nam – Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association, and offered his sincere welcome to President Chinh on his first visit to Japan as President of the Parliamentary Friendship Association. In addition, Minister Kishida, as Secretary-General of the Japan – Viet Nam Parliamentary Friendship Association, explained that Viet Nam is special to him personally, and he hopes to continue working together with President Chinh to further develop the “Extensive Strategic Partnership” between the two countries.

2. In response, President Chinh expressed his gratitude for Minister Kishida’s words of congratulations. President Chinh also explained that in the foreign policies of Viet Nam, Japan continues to be a crucial partner, and that as President of the Parliamentary Friendship Association, he intends to further strengthen the already positive bilateral relationship by promoting parliamentary exchanges and private-sector exchanges.

Furthermore, President Chinh explained that he will actively engage in training senior officials of the Government of Viet Nam and the Party, as well as administrative reforms that contribute to further improving the investment environment, and requested the support of the Japanese side.
