1. Today, August 11, upon receiving distress signal at approximately 5:32 am from a cargo ship sailing under the flag of Greece that it collided with a Chinese fishing vessel in international waters approximately 67 kilometers northwest of Uotsuri Island of the Senkaku Islands, a Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel and aircraft rushed to the scene and rescued six fishermen of the Chinese fishing vessel. Currently the Japan Coast Guard is continuing search and rescue in the area for those missing.

2. The Japanese Government notified the above through diplomatic channels in Tokyo and Beijing to the Chinese Government, which expressed its gratitude.
