The 1st session of "Japanese-Tunisian Dialogue on Security and Counter-terrorism"

1. On April 18, 2016, the 1st session of the "Japanese-Tunisian Dialogue on Security and Counter-terrorism" was held in Tunis, the capital of the Republic of Tunisia. Mr. Tsukasa Kawada, Representatives of the Government of Japan, Ambassador in charge of Countering Terrorism and Organized Crime, led the Japanese delegation The Tunisian delegation was chaired by Rear Admiral Kamel AKROUT, Senior Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic of Tunisia in charge of the Organization and Monitoring of Higher Councils.

2. During the Dialogue, the two sides exchanged views on the security situation in the region, on the measures taken by the Tunisian Government to fight terrorism and to protect foreign visitors, including Japanese nationals, and critical infrastructures in Tunisia and on future cooperation in the security area.

3. The two sides have agreed to continue this Dialogue regularly in the future.
