6th Japan-Brazil Consular Coordination Meeting
1. On Wednesday, April 13, the 6th Japan-Brazil Consular Coordination Meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Participants included Mr. Masaki Noke, Director-General of the Consular Affairs Bureau, representatives of related ministries and agencies for Japan, Ambassador Carlos Alberto Simas Magalhaes, Vice Minister for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and representatives from Brazil’s Ministry of Education.
2. At the meeting, there was a discussion on safety measures for Japanese nationals during the Rio de Janeiro Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Japan and Brazil confirmed their intention to strengther the cooperation framework.
3. In addition, with the aim of promoting human exchange between Japan and Brazil, the two sides confirmed plans to continue to deepen cooperative ties and take necessary measures on issues related to immigration control and nationals living abroad as well as the issue of education for Brazilian children living in Japan.
