Japan-Iran Consultation on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Issues
1. Japan-Iran Consultation on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Issues was held between Mr. Kazutoshi Aikawa, Director-General of Disarmament, Non-Proliferation and Science Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Hamid Baeidinejad, Director General of International Security and Political Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 15 in Tokyo.
2. At the consultation, both countries exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the issues of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, such as the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), and the cooperation for the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as well as biological and chemical weapons conventions. Both sides shared the view that the two countries will continue the consultation.
