Messages of Condolence following the Terror Attack in Jakarta, Indonesia

Following the terror attack that occurred in Jakarta, Indonesia, on January 14 , which caused a number of casualties, Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Prime Minister of Japan, sent the following message to H.E. Ir. H. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, also sent his message in the same line to H.E. Ms. Retno L. P. Marsudi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

“I am deeply shocked and outraged to hear that the terror attack that occurred in Jakarta on January 14 caused a number of casualties. Such terrorism could never be justified by any reason, and I strongly condemn such terrorist acts. Here, as the representative of the Japanese Government and people, I express solidarity to the Indonesian Government and people. Furthermore, I also express my deepest condolences to the families of all the victims, and express my heartfelt sympathy to those who were injured in the attack. In this time of difficulties, I stand with Your Excellency and the people of Indonesia.”
