Re-Election of Mr. Motoo Noguchi as a member of the Board of Directors of the Trust Fund for Victims of the International Criminal Court

November 19, 2015

1. On November 18 (same date local time), the election of the members of the Board of Directors of the Trust Fund for Victims (TFV) of the International Criminal Court (ICC) took place at the 14th Session of the Assembly of States of Parties (ASP) of the ICC held in The Hague, Netherlands, and Mr. Motoo Noguchi (former International Judge of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia), the incumbent Chair of the Board of Directors of the TFV, was re-elected as a member of the Board of the TFV by consensus.

2. Support projects for the female and child victims in the Republic of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo have been implemented through the TFV and achieved results steadily. Moreover, it is expected to implement its reparations plan for the victims in the case against Mr. Thomas Lubanga Dyilo in the Democratic Republic of Congo, for which the ICC had rendered its final judgement in 2014.

3. It has thus a significant meaning for the government of Japan, which consistently supports the activities of the ICC, that Mr. Noguchi, as a re-elected member of the Board of the TFV, will further contribute for implementing support projects for victims by maiking good use of his knowledge and experience.

4. The Government of Japan will continue its proactive contribution to the activities of the ICC.
