Japan-Cuba Consultation on United Nations (UN) issues

1. On September 10, Japan-Cuba Consultation on UN issues was held in New York (USA), with the attendance of Ambassador Motohide Yoshikawa, Permanent Representative of Japan to the UN, and H.E. Mr. Rodolfo Reyes Rodríguez, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN. This consultation was held based on the agreement at the Japan-Cuba Foreign Ministers’ Meeting this May.

2. In this consultation, both sides exchanged views extensively on issues concerning the UN such as UN Security Council reform, disarmament and non-proliferation, human rights, Post-2015 development agenda, and disaster risk reduction. Both sides confirmed to continue their coordination and cooperation toward peace and security.
