Summary of the Third Round of the Negotiations for a Japan-Turkey Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)
1. The third round of the negotiations for a Japan-Turkey Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) was held from Monday, September 7 to Thursday, September 10 in Tokyo.
2. From the Japanese side, Mr. Toshiro Suzuki, Representative of the Government of Japan for Free Trade and Economic Agreement Negotiations (Chief Negotiator), and representatives from relevant ministries attended this round of meeting. From the Turkish side, Mr. Murat Yapici, Director-General for the EU Affairs (Chief Negotiator) and representatives from relevant ministries participated.
3. At the meeting, the both sides discussed areas of trade in goods, trade in services, investment, intellectual property rights, improvement of the business environment, government procurement, SPS, TBT, electronic commerce, and general and final provisions, rules of origin, customs procedures, competition and dispute settlement.
4. The both sides decided to work on scheduling the dates of the fourth round of negotiations to be held in Turkey through diplomatic channels.
