Foreign Minister Kishida and State Minister Kiuchi’s Attendance at ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers’ Meetings
1. If circumstances allow, Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs will visit Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) from August 5 to 6. Mr. Minoru Kiuchi, State Minister will also visit Malaysia from August 4 to 7.
2. In Kuala Lumpur，Foreign Minister Kishida will attend ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the East Asia Summit (EAS) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting. State Minister Kiuchi will attend ASEAN-Japan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Mekong-Japan Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on behalf of Foreign Minister Kishida on August 5. He will also attend meetings together with Foreign Minister Kishida on August 6.
In these meetings, the ministers will discuss such issues as enhancing Japan-ASEAN cooperation, strengthening the EAS and supporting establishment of ASEAN Community, as well as regional and international issues. Foreign Minister Kishida and State Minister Kiuchi will explain Japan's views on these issues and coordinate policies with the participating countries.
Foreign Minister Kishida and State Minister Kiuchi will also have bilateral meetings with their counterparts on this opportunity.
