Message of condolences to Malaysia

1. On December 28, AirAsia flight 8501 went missing. Also in Malaysia, recent heavy rain has caused the massive flood resulting in loss of life and injuries as well as the evacuation of over 100,000 people.

2. In the wake of these situations, on December 29, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister, and Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent messages respectively to Dato’Sri Haji Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, and H.E. Dato’Sri Anifah bin Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, extending condolences and good wishes for the earliest possible discovery of the aircraft and the safety of all those on board as well as for the earliest possible restoration of the areas affected by the flood. In their messages, they also stated that Japan would spare no effort in providing necessary assistance and cooperation to help Malaysian efforts in response to these situations.
