Sixth Round of Negotiations on Japan-EU Strategic Partnership Agreement

1. The sixth round of negotiations on Japan-EU Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) was held in Tokyo from November 5 to 7.
2. The meeting was attended by, on the Japanese side, Mr. Keiichi Hara, Director of the European Policy Division, European Affairs Bureau and other representatives, and on the EU side, Mr. Julian Wilson, Head of Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand Division and other representatives.
3. At the meeting, the two sides deepened the discussion on the content of the Japan-EU SPA and further progress was made toward convergence of their positions.
4. The next round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in Brussels early next year.
