Visit to Japan of H.E. Mr. Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, Minister of the Environment of Peru

1. H.E. Mr. Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, Minister of the Environment of Peru, will visit Japan from September 7 to 9.
2. During his stay, Minister of the Environment Pulgar-Vidal is scheduled to meet with Mr. Kazuyuki Nakane, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs and exchange views on the positions of Japan and Peru on climate change negotiations.
3. This visit to Japan by Minister of the Environment Pulgar-Vidal is expected to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and Peru, and serve as an opportunity to have the Minister, who will chair the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 20) and the 10th session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to Kyoto Protocol (CMP10) being held in Peru’s capital of Lima in December this year, deepen his understanding of Japan’s positionregarding building a future framework on climate change, with the aim of having it adopted at the COP 21 in December next year.
