Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Hirotaka Ishihara’s Visit to Ethiopia, Rwanda and Tanzania
1. His Excellency Mr. Hirotaka Ishihara, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, is scheduled to visit the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Republic of Rwanda and the United Republic of Tanzania from August 25 to 31.
2. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ishihara is scheduled to hold meetings with key government officials in respective countries as the head of the Public and Private Sector Joint Mission for Promoting Trade and Investment in Africa, as well as exchange views with local business representatives.
3. The Public and Private Sector Joint Mission is one of the initiatives for boosting trade and investment in Africa, which the Government of Japan commited at the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV) , and this will be the eighth mission. Approximately 70 participants are scheduled to join the mission from Japan’s business community, relevant ministries and government agencies and organizations.
4. The visit of this Public and Private Sector Joint Mission is expected to expand further the trade and investment in Africa and to encourage economic growth of both sides, along with further strengthening bilateral relations with each country.

Departs from Japan on August 24 and returns to Japan on August 31. Scheduled to visit Ethiopia, Rwanda and Tanzania. (Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ishihara will join the mission from August 25).
(Reference 2) The Public Private Sector Joint Mission for Promoting Trade and Investment in Africa
Despatching a Public Private Sector Joint Mission for Promoting Trade and Investment in Africa started as one of the initiatives set forth at the Fourth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IV) with the goal of promoting trade and investment in Africa. In 2008, the mission was dispatched to a total of 12 countries in Southern, Eastern and Central West Africa regions. Subsequent missions were dispatched to Southern Africa (South Africa, Angola and Namibia) in August 2010, to Eastern Africa (Sudan, South Sudan, Kenya) in October 2011, and to Central South Africa (Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe) in August 2012. In November 2013, mission was dispatched to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon and Cote d’Ivoire.
