Visit to Japan by Ms. Valerie Amos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator
1. Ms. Valerie Amos, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, will visit Japan from July 22 to 25 upon the invitation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2. During her stay in Japan, Under-Secretary-General Amos will participate in the World Humanitarian Summit North and South-East Asia Regional Consultation at Mita Conference Centre. She is also expected to exchange views with key Government officials on various issues including humanitarian situations in the world, and cooperation between Japan and United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
3. This visit by Under-Secretary-General Amos is expected to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and the United Nations.
