1. The Japan-Tonga Trade and Investment Symposium, co-hosted by the Government of Japan and Government of the Kingdom of Tonga, in close cooperation with the Pacific Islands Center, Tokyo and the Tonga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) will be held in Nuku’alofa on 18th June, 2014.

2. The symposium is a part of efforts to follow up the outcomes of the Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting Second Ministerial Interim Meeting (PALM_MIM2) held in Tokyo on 26 October 2013.

3. The objectives of the symposium are: (1) to learn from the experiences of trade and investment between Japan and Tonga; (2)to identify the challenges that Pacific Island Countries including Tonga have been facing in expanding trade and investment, and (3) to discuss the possible ways and means to overcome the challenges.
