Emergency Assistance to the Republic of Paraguay in Response to the Floods Disaster

1. On Monday, June 16, the Government of Japan has decided to provide emergency relief goods worth 19 million yen (tents) for the Republic of Paraguay, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the request from the Government of Paraguay following serious damage caused by the floods.

2. In Paraguay, long rain since May has caused the floods. According to the Government of Paraguay, as of June 14, 31,837 families and 159,185 people were suffered by the disaster.

3. In response to the request from the Government of Paraguay, the Government of J apan has decided to provide emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view for the victims as well as in light of friendly relations between Japan and Paraguay.
