Emergency Assistance to Croatia in Response to the Floods Disaster
1. On Monday, June 9, the Government of Japan decided to provide emergency relief goods worth 11 million yen (Tents, sleeping pads, etc.) to Croatia, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in response to the request from the Government of Croatia following serious damage from the floods in the country.
2. Eastern Croatia suffer from floods caused by heavy rain from May 13 to 15 and inflow of a large quantity of water from neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina to Sava river. According to the Government of Croatia, as of June 5, 3 people were dead and 17,631 people took refuge from floods.
3. The Government of Japan decided to provide emergency assistance from a humanitarian point of view for the victims as well as in light of the friendly relationship between Japan and Croatia.
