Courtesy Call on Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister Mr. Norio Mitsuya by Secretary General Mr. Shigeo Iwatani and others of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat


On Monday, March 10, commencing at 5:10 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Norio Mitsuya received a courtesy call from Secretary General Mr. Shigeo Iwatani and others of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat, during their visit to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
1. Parliamentary Senior Vice-Minister Mitsuya stated that promoting future-oriented trilateral cooperation between Japan, the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea is important not only to the three countries concerned but also to the regional and international communities. He welcomed the fact that since being founded in September 2011, the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat has been working proactively through practical cooperation in various areas and the promotion of Track 2 dialogues. He also mentioned that the Government of Japan will continue to support the Secretariat’s activities.
2. In response, Secretary General Shigeo Iwatani and others expressed gratitude for the Government of Japan’s support for the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat, and hoped for continued support from Japan. They also stated that the Secretariat would like to further contribute to trilateral cooperation between Japan, China and the ROK.
