1. On January 26, the Exchange of Diplomatic Notes concerning the entry into force of the Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Iraq for the Promotion and Protection of Investment (Japan-Iraq Investment Agreement) took place in Baghdad. Accordingly, this Agreement will enter into force on Feburary 25, 2014.

2. The Agreement provides the rules in terms of promotion and protection of investment in a comprehensive and detailed manner. It is expected that the entry into force of this Agreement will further strengthen the economic relationship between Japan and Iraq, as well as promoting the investment between the two countries.
