The 8th Japan-Netherlands Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation

The 8th Japan-Netherlands Joint Committee Meeting on Science and Technology Cooperation took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in Tokyo on March 2.
- The Joint Committee Meeting was held for the first time in four years and was co-chaired by H.E. Ms. KAJI Misako, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Michiel SWEERS, Deputy Director- General for Enterprises and Innovation and Director for Innovation and Knowledge of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and Mr. Mr. Oscar DELNOOZ, Director for Research and Science Policy, Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Attendees included H.E. Mr. Peter VAN DER VLIET, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Japan, a number of representatives from relevant Ministries and Agencies of both countries as well as from the Embassy of the Netherlands in Japan.
- During the meeting, both countries exchanged views on recent national policies and programs in the fields of science, technology and innovation. Both sides presented the current bilateral research collaborations and outlook for the future in semiconductor, quantum technology, photonics, hydrogen and energy, agritech, biodiversity, satellite 5G/beyond 5G, etc. Topics such as economic security and research integrity policies, open science, and collaboration on large scale research facilities were also discussed.
- The Joint Committee decided to hold the next meeting in the Netherlands, at a date to be coordinated through diplomatic channels.
