 On January 23rd, Mr. Endo Kazuya, Director-General,International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with Mr. Stanislav Kulykivsky, Head of Division for International Technical Assistance, Department for EU Integration and International Cooperation, State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) and other members. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. Director-General Endo welcomed SESU Members’ visit to Japan, and expressed his hope that Japan’s knowledge and experience in demining gained through its cooperation with Cambodia would be utilized in Ukraine's mine and unexploded ordnance clearance efforts. Mr. Endo also expressed deep condolences on those including Minister of Interior Mr. Denys Monastyrsky who passed away by the helicopter crash on January 18th.
  2. Head Kulykivsky expressed his appreciation for Japan's assistance to Ukraine, and Director-General concurred to continue to cooperate with Ukraine in mine and unexploded ordnance clearance.

 At the Japan-Cambodia Summit Meeting held on November 12, 2022, the two leaders concurred to cooperate in demining in third countries, including Ukraine. SESU members came to Japan to participate in a demining training program for Ukraine, which Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is implementing in cooperation with the Government of Cambodia.
