The 17th Japan-NATO High-Level Consultations

  1. On December 1, the 17th Japan-NATO High-Level Consultations were held in Tokyo. It has been almost 5 years since the last Consultation was held in person in 2017. The Japanese delegation was headed by Mr. YAMADA Shigeo, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, MOFA, and the NATO delegation was headed by Ambassador Bettina Cadenbach, Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy.
  2. Through the consultations, Japan and NATO discussed a wide range of issues such as respective security policies, Japan-NATO cooperation, and regional situations in East Asia and in Europe.
