Formation of the New Government in Iraq

  1. On October 27, the Iraqi Council of Representatives approved the cabinet ministers’ list submitted by Prime Minister-designate Mr. Mohammed Al-Sudani and the new cabinet headed by Prime Minister Al-Sudani was formed.
  2. The Government of Japan welcomes the formation of the new government in Iraq, almost a year after the election of the Iraqi Council of Representative last October. The Government of Japan strongly hopes that all Iraqi parties will work together to address various challenges including the realization of the stability of the country and the strengthening of the relations with neighboring countries.
  3. The Government of Japan will cooperate with Al-Sudani government towards further enhancing bilateral relations and responding to the challenges in the Middle East.
