Attack on Erbil in Iraq by multiple missiles

  1. In the early hours of March 13(local time), multiple missiles were launched from Iran to Erbil city in northern Iraq causing injuries and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it launched these missiles.
  2. The Government of Japan strongly condemns this attack, which threatens the sovereignty and stability of Iraq and the peace and stability of the Middle East region.
  3. The Government of Japan will continue to support the efforts of the Government of Iraq to ensure peace and stability of the region. Furthermore, the Government of Japan will continue its diplomatic efforts towards easing tensions and stabilizing the situation in the Middle East region.
