Virtual Meeting between Mr. UEMURA, Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace
and H.E. Dr. Ziad Abu Amr, Deputy Prime Minister of Palestine

On November 30, Mr. UEMURA Tsukasa, Representative of the Government of Japan and Special Envoy for the Middle East Peace held a virtual meeting with H.E. Dr. Ziad Abu Amr, Deputy Prime Minister of Palestine. The overview of the meeting is as follows.
- At the outset, Deputy Prime Minister Abu Amr delivered a congratulatory message on Prime Minister KISHIDA’s inauguration from H.E. Dr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine.
- In response, Mr. UEMURA expressed his appreciation and reaffirmed Japan’s position to support a two-state solution regarding the Middle East Peace, stating that Japan continues its contribution to confidence-building among the parties concerned. Deputy Prime Minister Abu Amr expressed his gratitude for Japan’s assistance to Palestine and his commitment to continuously cooperating with Japan.
- Both sides also exchanged views on regional situations related to the Middle East Peace and economic situation in Palestine. They concurred on the significance to promote Japan-Palestine cooperation through Japan’s “Corridor for Peace and Prosperity” initiative and other efforts.
