Presidential Election in Zambia (Statement by Press Secretary YOSHIDA Tomoyuki)

  1. Following the presidential election held in Zambia on August 12, the Government of Japan congratulates Mr. Hakainde Hichilema and the people of Zambia on his election as the next President of Zambia.
  2. The Government of Japan hopes that, under the leadership of Mr. Hichilema, Zambia will achieve further development and continue to contribute to peace and stability in the region as a stable democracy. Japan will also continue to strengthen its cooperative relations with Zambia.
