Congratulatory Messages from Prime Minister Suga and Foreign Minister Motegi to Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi regarding the General Election in Myanmar

- On November 10, Mr. SUGA Yoshihide, Prime Minister of Japan, sent a congratulatory message to H.E. Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor and Union Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, regarding the fact that the general election was successfully held in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on November 8, and the fact that the National League for Democracy (NLD), which is led by State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, was able to claim victory. In his message, Prime Minister Suga stated that Japan will cooperate with the next administration, and continue to fully support the democratic nation building of Myanmar.
- On the same day, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, also sent a congratulatory message to State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, regarding the fact that the general election was successfully held amidst the adverse situation of the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), and on the victory of the NLD.
