The 12th Japan-Iran Human Rights Dialogue

- The 12th Japan- the Islamic Republic of Iran Human Rights Dialogue was held on July 19 in Tokyo.
- The dialogue was led respectively by Mr. Masato Otaka, Ambassador in charge of UN Affairs, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Dr. Pishgahi Fard, Director General of Human Rights and Woman Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Advisor to Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
- During the dialogue, both countries explained their respective basic policies and measures on human rights issues, and exchanged views, among others, on matters of interest and concern as well as cooperation with the United Nations. As a part of the dialogue, officials from both countries had a technical session and exchanged views on women's rights on July 20.
- Both sides will arrange to hold the next dialogue in 2018 in Tehran.
