Submission of Recommendation towards Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs

On May 12, Professor Teruo Kishi, Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, presented the "Recommendation for the Future (STI as a Bridging Force to Provide Solutions for Global Issues: Four Actions of Science and Technology Diplomacy to Implement the SDGs) (PDF) " to the Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Fumio Kishida. This recommendation was prepared after discussions held by the Advisory Board for the Promotion of Science and Technology Diplomacy, which is chaired by the Science and Technology Advisor.

 Minister Kishida stated, with appreciation for the contribution of the Advisory Board, that he would like to refer to the recommendation to lead the discussions in such forum as the U.N., taking advantage of such occasion as the upcoming High Level Political Forum (HLPF) of the Economic and Social Council in July, towards implementation of the SDGs through solution of issues across the three dimensions of sustainability - economic, social and environmental by making use of science, technology and innovation where Japan has strength.
