The Official Logo for PALM7

The official logo for the 7th Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (PALM7) which will be held in Iwaki-city, Fukushima prefecture on 22 and 23 May 2015 at Iwaki, Fukushima) has been decided.

1. About the Logo

The Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting is known as "PALM" (Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting), with three-color rainbow in the middle representing a bridge which connects the Pacific islands countries and Japan. A figure standing at left side of the palm tree is called "Kibitan" [Note1] and at the right side is called "Myû" [Note2]. They are mascot figures of Fukushima prefecture and Iwaki-city respectively, where PALM7 will be held.

  • [Note1] "Kibitan" is a mascost figure of Fukushima prefecture made from the symbol bird called "Kibitaki".
  • [Note2] "Myû" is mascot figure of sea mew, the symbol bird of Iwaki city.

2. Use of the Logo

The logo will be used as an official symbol for various events related to PALM7 until the end of May 2015. It is allowed for programs which will contribute to promoting exchanges or mutual understandings between the Pacific islands countries and Japan to use the logo, in order to make the PALM more dynamic. It is expected that those relevant activities offer opportunities to further deepen mutual understandings and promote friendship between the Pacific islands countries and Japan.
