Visit to Japan by Mr. Roberto Carvalho de Azevedo, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO)

- From May 20 to 22, Mr. Roberto Carvalho de Azevedo, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), will make a working visit to Japan upon invitation by the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
- During his stay in Japan, Director-General Azevedo will hold meetings with Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and other concerned ministers. Moreover, he will exchange opinions with concerned organizations and economic organizations in Japan.
- The multilateral trading system centered upon the WTO is the basis of global trade and a pillar of Japanese trade policies. In the exchange of opinions between senior officials from Japan and Director-General Azevedo, the issue of maintaining and strengthening the multilateral trading system is scheduled to be discussed.
