Request for Discussions under the RCEP Agreement on China's Measures to Suspend Imports of all Aquatic Products originating in Japan
On August 24, the Government of China introduced a measure to suspend imports of all aquatic products from Japan, in addition to the existing import restriction measures. It is extremely regretful that China has taken these measures, and Japan has been urging China to immediately repeal its measures.
As part of such efforts, on September 4, Japan has requested discussions with China in accordance with the provisions of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement, to which both Japan and China are Parties.
Japan hopes that China will hold the discussions with the Japanese side as soon as practicable and review its measures in accordance with its obligations of the RCEP Agreement. Through various efforts including these discussions, Japan will continue to strongly urge the Chinese side to immediately repeal its measures.
