Japan-Jordan Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk

On May 10, commencing at 4:10 p.m. for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held the telephone talk with H. E. Mr. Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The overview is as follows.

  1. Minister Safadi explained Jordan's efforts regarding the situation in Syria, including the international meeting on Syria hosted by Jordan on May 1. In response, Minister Hayashi expressed his respect for Jordan's efforts to improve the situation in Syria, and explained Japan's efforts and support to revitalize the political process and improve the humanitarian situation in Syria. The ministers agreed to continue to work together closely for the improvement of the situation in Syria.
  2. In addition, Minister Hayashi mentioned the recent visit of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Japan and the 3rd Strategic Dialogue between Foreign Ministers, and expressed his pleasure at the steadily developing bilateral relationship. Minister Hayashi also expressed appreciation for Jordan's assistance in evacuating a Japanese national from Sudan. In response, Minister Safadi stated that His Majesty King's visit to Japan had provided momentum for the development of cooperative relations between the two countries, and that he would like to continue to further strengthen these relations.
