Release of the G7 Senior Development Officials (SDOs) Chair’s Summary

On March 20, the G7 Senior Development Officials (SDOs) meeting’s Chair’s Summary was released.

Due to the impact including by the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the role of development cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has become more significant in the year 2023, the halfway point in the effort to achieve the 2030 Agenda for SDGs.

A Chair’s Summary was issued following the discussion in the G7 SDOs meeting held on February 21 and 22. In this Chair’s Summary, the G7 SDOs stressed the need to engage with developing countries in solidarity, and reaffirmed importance of the maintaining the rule-based international order. The SDOs also expressed their determination to accelerate progress on development priorities towards the Hiroshima Summit on development finance, the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, food security, nutrition, humanitarian assistance, climate change, health, disaster risk reduction and education.
