Reception hosted by AKIMOTO Masatoshi, Parliemantary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs on the occassionm of the GEA International Conference 2022

On October 27, AKIMOTO Masatoshi, Parliamentary Vice-Miniser for Foreign Affairs hosted a reception at Iikura House to welcome the participants to the GEA International Conference 2022.
- At the outset, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister Akimoto stated that while global environment agendas are attracting increasing international attention, it is essential that the entire international community take effective and decisive actions to tackle these issues. He also emphasized that Japan will contribute to achieving a sustainable society by making use of its technologies.
- The Parliamentary Vice-Minister Akimoto also underlined the importance of strengthening international collaboration in order to achieve a society in which no one is left behind while issues such as climate change, energy and food security are intertwined and are threatening the safety of a large number of people. He also expressed his determination to lead international discussions toward resolving the global environmental challenges.
- The reception had guests from the fields of politics, economics and academia in Japan and from abroad, including Professor Hans Schellnhuber, Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
