On September 27, commencing at 11:30 a.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan held a meeting with H.H. Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during his visit to Japan to attend the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Abe. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Minister Hayashi expressed his appreciation for the attendance of Minister Faisal at the State Funeral of former Prime Minister Abe, and expressed his intention to firmly develop the diplomatic legacy inherited from former Prime Minister Abe and strengthen the strategic partnership between Japan and Saudi Arabia.
  2. In response, Minister Faisal expressed his heartfelt condolences on the demise of former Prime Minister Abe, and stated that former Prime Minister Abe was a true friend of Saudi Arabia. Minister Faisal also expressed his hopes for further strengthening bilateral cooperation with Japan under the leadership of the leaders of the two countries.
  3. The two Ministers exchanged views on the situation of Ukraine as well as the international oil market. Minister Hayashi expressed his gratitude for the stable supply of oil from Saudi Arabia, and also expressed his hopes for Saudi Arabia’s leading role in stabilizing the international crude oil market. In response, Minister Faisal stated that Saudi Arabia continues to be committed to the stable supply of oil to Japan. The two Ministers agreed to further promote cooperation in moving towards the realization of carbon-neutrality through the utilization and promotion of clean energy.
