Japan–Malaysia Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk

On September 2, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a telephone talk with H.E. Dato’ Sri Saifuddin bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia, for about 20 minutes from 13:40 p.m. The overview of the talk is as follows:
- At the outset, Minister Hayashi expressed his gratitude for condolences on the passing of former Prime Minister Abe from Prime Minister Ismail Sabri and Minister Saifuddin, and stated that he would like to further strengthen the bilateral relations, guided by the will of former PM Abe. In response, Minister Saifuddin reiterated his sincere condolence on the passing of former Prime Minister Abe.
- Minister Hayashi expressed his gratitude for Minister Saifuddin’s cooperation towards the early opening of a branch campus of the University of Tsukuba and success of events commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Look East Policy. In response, Minister Saifuddin stated that the people of Malaysia looking forward to the opening of the branch campus.
- The two Ministers exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the situations in Ukraine, in the East and South China Seas, surrounding Taiwan and in Myanmar. The two Ministers affirmed that they would work together in dealing with these issues.
