Message of condolences from Foreign Minister Taro Kono following the terrorist attacks in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka

 On April 21, following the terrorist attacks in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa, etc. of Sri Lanka, Mr. Taro Kono, Foreign Minister of Japan sent the following message of condolences to Honourable Tilak Janaka Marapana, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

“On April 21, explosions in Colombo, Negombo, Batticaloa, etc. resulted in a large number of deaths and many injuries including Japanese.I would like to offer my prayers for the victims of the attacks, as well as my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and my sympathies to the wounded.

Japan expresses sincere solidarity with Sri Lankan people to overcome this difficult time.

Such act of terrorism cannot be justified and Japan firmly condemns it. Japan is firmly committed to combatting terrorism in cooperation with Sri Lanka and the international community.”
