Congratulatory Message from Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida to Mr. Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States of America
On January 21 (January 20, local time), Minister for Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States of America as follows.
Dear Mr. Vice President,
I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations to you on the occasion of your inauguration as the Vice President of the United States of America.
The Japan-U.S. Alliance is the linchpin of Japan’s diplomacy and security. As the security environment of the region becomes severer, we must further strengthen the Alliance, the cornerstone of peace and stability of the Asia-Pacific region.
You have broad experience as a politician and deep international knowledge. You are a supporter of the Japan-U.S. relations, having experiences of visiting Japan and having many acquaintances in Japan. I am confident that you will provide leadership as the Vice President for building even stronger Japan-U.S. Alliance supported by such backgrounds.
I look forward to working with the Trump administration to tackle issues that matter to our two countries and to the world.
Please accept my best wishes for your new post.
Sincerely,
Fumio Kishida
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan
